Brenda on fun with diaphragms

A selection of diaphragms from 3 manufacturers

The photo shows: This is an old photo showing three different makers’ contraceptive diaphragms. From the top, left to right are the latex Ortho All-Flex arcing spring rim, a Milex silicone wide seal available in arcing and coil spring styles, and a latex Ortho White which has a coil spring rim. The device with the clear dome and cherry rim is a Semina made of silicone in Brazil. Ortho converted the All-Flex from latex to silicone in the 4th quarter of 2008 and stopped making the Ortho White entirely at the same time. Semina is not available in the U.S. I can’t find a photo that includes the Lamberts latex Reflexions flat spring rim style with other diaphragms so I have included a photo of it further on in this entry.

Brenda’s comment: Since Brenda, a frequent reader and diaphragm wearer, posted a long comment to an earlier post I thought I’d re-post the entire comment and my reply in its own blog entry where other readers are more likely to read and comment on it. Brenda wrote:

Just some girl talk and my thanks. Maybe or not some readers will find some interest. Up to you.

I really want to thank you for getting me back in touch with the importance of diaphragms to me. How many women still own every one they ever purchased? Including a rather fragile one over thirty years old. Must be important and likely harkens back to my secondary school days (always a diaphragm and usually a condom as well) and reactionary time at university after the chief lesbian on campus dumped me. I went through a period of denying my lesbian side and tried to fuck my way through the entire student body. Almost made it. So the exceptional activity, with a diaphragm in place, has inextricably linked my sex life with a diaphragm.

I now nearly always wear it to bed and have wandered out daytimes with it in place as well. On my recent trip to Africa, I went to the airport, which uses full body scanners, with it in place. As I approached security, it dawned on me that the spring would be quite visible on the scan and I found that somehow exciting. Whoever was looking had to wonder whether I was preparing to join the mile high club or I was freshly fucked. Likely gave them something to talk about all day.

Also, the new diaphragm recently had its semen baptism. It occurred to me that there was no medical reason for my wearing one but it should not denied its own experience of being flooded with an ejaculation. A medical conference provided the opportunity - as often as I would have wished. I met a very young doctor at the health club and made certain he had the chance to check everything out. We went to his room because I did not want a stranger in mine. He was young, virile and not very accomplished. Still dumped three loads against the diaphragm which I dutifully left in place until the next morning and removed to the usual aroma of putrefying semen, washed it and laid it out to dry on a towel. I wondered if the young maid even knew what it was. Years ago, that was likely a common event in hotel rooms but few younger women have even seen a diaphragm. Fortunately and unusual for me, I used a douche premix because later in the day I encountered a past lover and we decided we had better things to do than attend a dull lecture. This time in my room so that I could get the diaphragm back in. With a much more accomplished, and familiar partner, the sex was much better.

I really think that the saving grace for my new young friend was the rubbing of the G-Spot by the diaphragm rim as you have described. Though it fits me perfectly, his penis was such that he likely was pushing the dome into the anterior fornix and moving the rim slightly.

Any way, having found your blog quite by accident I have found it interesting and it has re-enabled some old behaviors that are quite enjoyable. If only some of the lurkers would join in more!

Thanks and hugs

A latex Reflexions flat spring diaphragm

Fetish uses of a flat spring diaphragm: Both Brenda and I prefer a latex flat spring diaphragm for fetish use. I’ll let her discuss why she prefers a flat spring. Returning readers may recall that I like wearing Reflexions because it is nearly impossible for a mischievous lover to under-thrust a correctly sized and properly inserted flat spring diaphragm as the rim will not flex when rammed at an oblique angle by a penis and the latex dome is far more flexible and the heat transfer properties much better than with silicone diaphragms. Too, with the soft stretchy dome even an inexperienced lover can give me a G-spot orgasm if I adjust my hips to have him thrust into my anterior fornix where he will move the rim just enough to caress my G-spot.

For my fetishist lovers I like that a latex diaphragm will develop a much stronger rubbery scent from being marinated over night in a combination of my vaginal fluids and a lover’s semen. That can be a turn-off for some users, but most of my men are rubberists and fond of the rubbery stench of well used ‘vaginal rubber’. After a quick wash and insertion of another flat spring, while the one just removed soaks in a 50/50 mix of water and white vinegar to remove the odor, and I’m good to go. I do ‘double bag’ wearing an Oves screwed down tight on my cervix because some of my unprotected lovers have been known to pull out my diaphragm just after filling me with sperm. The only down-side to a latex diaphragm is that it can’t be used by woman with a latex allergy. And latex even when well cared for doesn’t last as long as a silicone device. Fortunately neither Brenda nor I are allergic to latex.

My reply to Brenda’s comment:

[Jill] Hi Brenda, I’m so glad you are back safely from Rwanda, it sounds like such a dangerous place.

[Brenda] I really want to thank you for getting me back in touch with the importance of diaphragms to me.

[Jill] I’m pleased that I’ve been able to reawaken in you the fascination and thrill I feel when protecting myself from the most common consequence of engaging in penetrative sex with men when I insert a cervical barrier. I feel more confident and alluring; I’m more sexually assertive and still feel just a bit naughty knowing I’m ready to play without additional preparation when the man I’m with thinks the moment is right, except for emptying my bowels and bladder first if possible.

[Brenda] How many women still own every one they ever purchased?

[Jill] I imagine the number is quite small. As I’ve mentioned in posts to this blog I was introduced to diaphragms (the latex Ortho All-Flex) at boarding school when I was 14, in 1985, and then switched to a Prentif which was approved by the FDA in 1988, when I was 22, in 1993, when my cervix was large enough that I could wear the 25mm. I was astonished since I had tried in my teens to be fitted and I was too small for the 22mm! Then it was a combination of the Prentif and All-Flex - until the late 90s when I tried Ortho Tri-Cyclen for three years, which dried me out and killed my libido, and I came back to cervical barriers when the Oves cap became available. It was available over-the counter at Boots in the UK, but only on-line for those of us in the U.S. When there started to be shortages of Oves in my size, the 26mm, I stocked up before the manufacturer stopped making them. So now, If I’m careful and don’t get preggers so the size of my cervix changes, I should have enough Oves caps (I can get multiple cycles from a single cap) to get me well into menopause.

[Brenda] So the exceptional activity, with a diaphragm in place, has inextricably linked my sex life with a diaphragm

[Jill] I think the fact that there is a physical barrier in place to block a partner’s sperm is one of the things I like most about diaphragms and caps. I was never really sure the pill was working, other than it made me terribly dry and want to avoid sex with men I otherwise wanted to be ravished by.

[Brenda] As I approached security, it dawned on me that the spring would be quite visible on the scan and I found that somehow exciting. Whoever was looking had to wonder whether I was preparing to join the mile high club or I was freshly fucked. Likely gave them something to talk about all day.

[Jill] After being pulled out of line twice by TSA screeners in Vegas for wearing a Milex Omniflex (because it has a deeper dome) while menstrual to show a female supervisor a blood filled diaphragm and she didn’t seem apologetic at all. I’ve tried when I can to use private aircraft where the screening is less rigorous, or wear a Diva Cup. Other than the delay (I wanted coffee before my flight) it didn’t bother me because in my profession I undress regularly for men so I went into performance mode and wasn’t shy about it at all. I just did get my coffee.

[Brenda] It occurred to me that there was no medical reason for my wearing one but it should not denied its own experience of being flooded with an ejaculation.

[Jill] I agree that every cervical barrier should be christened with highly motile sperm even if the intention is to only insert it as a confidence builder in situations where being celibate is the best policy.

[Brenda] He was young, virile and not very accomplished. Still dumped three loads against the diaphragm which I dutifully left in place until the next morning and removed to the usual aroma of putrefying semen,

[Jill] I love the enthusiasm and stamina of the young ones and if you have them for a while most of them can be trained to perform at very high levels and the training process can be such a joy! I’ve mentioned this before and I know it’s an acquired taste, but I always love the scent of a latex diaphragm after leaving it to marinate in the mixture of my vaginal secretions and a lover’s ejaculate over night. The pungent rubbery fragrance emanating from a ripe diaphragm brings back fond memories of marvelous sex from the night before.

[Brenda] I wondered if the young maid even knew what it was. Years ago, that was likely a common event in hotel rooms but few younger women have even seen a diaphragm.

[Jill] I agree! Less than 1% of women using contraception in the U.S. wear a diaphragm or FemCap and FemCap seems to be catching on because the manufacturer says it can be sized by the woman’s OB history and plays down the need for a traditional fitting, which results an a good many poorly fitting FemCaps in the U.S.

[Brenda] I really think that the saving grace for my new young friend was the rubbing of the G-Spot by the diaphragm rim as you have described. Though it fits me perfectly, his penis was such that he likely was pushing the dome into the anterior fornix and moving the rim slightly.

[Jill] I’m so pleased that you and your young admirer had that experience! Wasn’t that amazing!

[Brenda] If only some of the lurkers would join in more!

[Jill] It is fun corresponding with readers. I have a few regular readers, but most I think read me for the kinks I have that appeal to them and because I write about the life I lead which to some, if not most, I suppose might seem like a fantasy.

If you believe what my readers say about themselves they are: 54% male and 46% female, 48% are 18-34, 32% are 35-48 and 16% are over 50. 73% have no children. In that mix there are a lot of fantasists that my lifestyle might appeal to, and I appreciate every one of them!

Ballet-sex training, Lesbians and diaphragms

Escort in Suffolk shoes during ballet-sex training

Solo ballet-sex training: As I mentioned in a comment on my post for March 31, 2012 [Ballet-sex exams, dome suction] in that post I didn’t go into all the hours of solo training each girl spends perfecting her compartmentalization skills to be able to control her legs and vaginal muscles while balancing en pointe during penile vaginal intercourse. In Solo training she works en pointe fully penetrated from behind, having backed on to a suction mounted dildo attached to the mirror in an encounter Sallé. That way she can perfect the angle and depth of penetration she needs to successfully reach orgasm, so that when she is with a man she can guide him to give her exactly what she needs before her tight spasming bands of vaginal muscles milk him of the last drop of the thick cream filled with his seed. Practicing alone a student can quickly determine the most comfortable and safest angle for being penetration. Being penetrated at an angle significantly off the long axis of the vagina can lead to having a diaphragm/gas-guard under-thrust or quickly developing painful vaginal tears.

The small encounter Sallé preferred for solo training has three mirrored walls one with a barre and a digital media player for music. Each escort/or student brings her own reproductive tract protection, diaphragms or cervical caps, penetrative devices, dildos or a Penetrator Plug (for cervical orgasms from rubbing her pelvis against a barre bracket) and lubricating gel (typically DiveGel+) as well as a good decongestant, a ball-gag and gasmask or respirator to compromise her ability to breathe worn to simulate the exertion experienced during extended encounter sessions. We also recommend that students who don’t have an IUD inserted/implanted also carry in their dance bag a few condoms and a tube of Semécide spermicide. The condoms are in case she calls for an instructor and he needs to demonstrate a particular thrusting technique and the Semécide is back-up in case the condom breaks or slips off. Use of stimulating gels (such as K-Y Intense) during training is forbidden as their use tends to make the woman less interested in learning how to get the most intense experience from her training equipment.

UNLV Lesbian Subs and diaphragms: At the clinic we are seeing more lesbian students coming in to be fitted for diaphragms. This seems to be happening because there are several lesbian Dommes who have begun trolling UNLV for partners and who enjoy giving their Submissives very rough sex with a strap-on. The Dommes, not wanting to permanently damage submissive partners, are sending them to us to be fitted with protection for the G-spot and cervix. We are fitting them with diaphragms to prevent epithelium tears during strap-on encounters. Since with lesbian strap-on vaginal sex there is usually no danger of pregnancy (unless the strap-on has a spring loaded syringe for ‘ejaculate’) no spermicide is necessary, but a good thick silicone gel (DiveGel+) is used. For vaginal strap-on sex the diaphragm I’m fitting the Subs with is a silicone Milex arcing spring. That’s because the Milex arcing spring rim is more difficult to under-thrust than an All-Flex or Omniflex. Also important is that the Milex dome is thicker than All-Flex, Reflexions and Semina so the friction of the strap-on tip against the dome won’t wear a thin spot in the dome too quickly. And, the thicker dome provides some measure of thrust buffering if the Domme wants to batter her Sub’s cervix.

Warming/stimulating gels and diaphragms: At the clinic we are finding that stimulating gels, like K-Y Intense, applied to the inner surface of diaphragm domes in place of spermicide are becoming a popular experience enhancer at vanilla sex parties. Vaginal use of Intense is not recommended by the maker and even when used on the clitoris as directed about 25% of the women who try it find it has no effect or they are allergic to the ingredients. However, that vaginal application is an off-label use hasn’t slowed its increasing popularity among twenty somethings to heighten the woman’s experience.

Intense can be purchased on the internet in bulk to drop the cost of an application (about 10 vaginal applications to a container instead of the 20 recommended for application to the clitoris) to about $2.50 per application. That’s because you need about twice as much as is recommended for application to the clitoris to make sure the G-spot is stimulated. Solo sex using a G-spot vibrator or riding a Sybian machine is spectacularly enhanced because the user has control of the depth, direction and pressure of the vaginal probe, but using a diaphragm with a mechanically rotating plug (like a Sybian) inserted can shorten the life of even a Milex Arcing spring the most structurally robust diaphragm available.

The Real estate market and Porn Palaces: Taryn’s video company has leased several secluded estates in the Spring Mountains. They are lovely homes with large enclosed pools that had been foreclosed on and she has had them refurbished for use as sets for porn films. This arrangement is working a lot better than trying to sneak into a foreclosed property and possibly have the real estate agent appear during a shoot or worse the police. This way there are no bribes to pay, no possibility of arrest, access is 24/7 and there is plenty of room to stage camera and editing equipment. The cost of the lease and right of first refusal to purchase if the bank finds a buyer is about the same and there is far more stability on the set for the actors and crew and much less drama off-camera.

Depo-Provera and breast cancer: “There appears to be a link between an injectable form of progestin-only birth control, best known as Depo-Provera, and an increased risk of breast cancer in young women, new research suggests.” For the complete article click HERE

Personal comment: If it weren’t bad enough that using the injectable progestin Depo-medroxyprogesterone acetate causes weight gain in a significant percentage of users as well as loss of bone density now there seems to be a doubled risk of breast cancer with use of the injectable contraceptive for a year. There may be good reasons that some few women need to use Depo-medroxyprogesterone acetate, but it is a hormonal method to avoid if possible.

At St Lucy’s we forbid students to use Depo-Provera unless they must, because no other women controlled contraceptive method will work for them. Currently no St Lucy’s student is on Depo.

Going away to school

Confident in a Balanchine body

Taryn’s friends and confidence: Most of the girls in Taryn’s class will be going off to college this fall as will Taryn. In preparation they have all come by the clinic for a fit check of their gas guards and to get a spare as backup in case something happens to their primary diaphragm. I’m fitting them with Reflexions latex flat spring rim diaphragms for flow control, menstrual sex and most importantly upper reproductive tract protection during dive-sex. Returning readers know that while a latex diaphragm won’t last as long (typically about 18 months) as a silicone one the flat spring rim – which is only available in latex – is the only diaphragm that is effective for deep dive-sex, below 30 feet. Two of the women needed a larger size, just one size, an additional 5 mm up, to 70mm, and they all got two twenty-four tube packs of prefilled applicators of dive-gel. I think the girls are all looking forward not only to the intellectual challenge of college, but to new sexual partners as well.

Penetrator Plugs: In my January 22, 2010 entry entitled Training plugs I cover the uses of vaginal plugs for electro-stimulation. And I’ve mentioned from time to time how useful Penetrator plugs are for giving a woman confidence that her groin is protected when worn in a room full of men with groping hands while appearing to wear nothing under her thong. This is particularly important for students starting a new school where she has no support system. All the graduating St Lucy’s girls had their Penetrators checked for correct fit and wear and a few needed larger ones or the discoloration was so severe a new clean one was appropriate.

When I recommended Ginny to fill in for Abi until her YI clears up I had her measured for a Penetrator and she came away from the fitting visit wearing a students temporary plug with which she could practice until her bespoke Penetrator could be made by Gepettos custom shop. I went with her one morning last week to get the custom made one and have it inserted to make certain that it fit exactly and that she could insert and remove it easily. It was a good thing she had been practicing with the student plug as the vacuum fit of the custom one still took a bit of trial and error before she learned to break the seal so she could get it out. She has the new version that allows urination w/o having to remove the plug which is a huge improvement over the original design.

Teen confidence building: As confident as Taryn is I thought her friends were probably as outgoing, sophisticated and confident as she is, and most of them are, but there is one who Taryn thought needed an added boost so I suggested a brief series of sensual encounters to boost her confidence in the power she can have over men with her exquisite body. Her name is Anne and she had been in my advanced sexual techniques class, but I don’t think she had practiced any of the skills I taught. She did not select anyone from the choices of screened male partners offered for stress relief and now has come to regret not participating. Her family lives in Vegas and she is going East to attend SAB. She just finished their SI and came back to see her family and pack and has been telling Taryn about all the terrific men at SAB. I hope that isn’t an indication that she is losing focus on her ballet training now that she needs all her artistic skills to compete with other SAB students. Taryn says she needs to polish her bedroom skills as drama training and I agree. Seductive movement used in the bedroom can be used equally effectively on stage. To entice a partner to new heights of technique as he loses himself in showing off his ability for a woman who has made herself supremely desirable to spur him to new heights of ardor in his quest to possess her is the height of drama which can leave an audience spellbound. If applied with the wrong man or in the wrong ballet that sort of vamping can be a disaster, but with subtly and in the right roles it can cause an audience to sweat with desire almost as much as the dancers performing the steps.

And so it was that when Anne became fertile this cycle she came to me for a brief immersion course in seduction and confidence training. It was two days of in-your-face mixing with heterosexual male dancers. An accidental hand on the thigh, buttock or the back of his neck, or, brushing his crotch with her dance bag as they chat before class is the sort of thing male fantasies are built on and she led them on to wanting her. Letting a partner see her putting up her hair and adjusting the sheer mesh ‘invisible’ dance bra she wore. It didn’t take much to let the men I paired her with know that she was not only interested in perfecting her ballet technique, but also the deepest form of intimate partnering. Fortunately she has a GyneFix IUD implanted and so there was no real concern about the possibility of her becoming pregnant from the encounters.

And she got a valuable refresher on the technique for inserting and removing her Reflexions gas guard for dive-sex which she found she enjoyed a lot more this time than when she first had dive-sex as part of her advanced sexual techniques class. She says she loves the feel of her partner thrusting into the stretchy rubber dome of her GG and knowing her upper reproductive tract is safe from harm from sex underwater. Each day after a full day of technique encounters she thanked me for the opportunity to practice the skills she knew she could use with male partners during a performance to take her artistry to new heights.

Transitionwear

A heavy rubber death-chick in her body-bag, is she or isn’t she?

Transitionwear: I collect ‘transitionwear’. For my friends who haven’t seen or heard the term before that’s because I coined it to describe clothing in which a woman died. I collect a subset of transitionwear, specifically what the woman was wearing when she was killed or died while having sex. It has to be in my size because I want to wear it while I’m having sex since I can feel the aura of the dead woman whose clothing I’m wearing especially while I’m penetrated by a man. Most of the transitionwear is of latex or leather. The shoes are usually stripper heels (5 inches or more) ballet-boots or pointe shoes thought I do have one or two pairs of leather slippers and a full range of helmets and gags. And I collect their birth control devices as well pulling diaphragms, FemCaps and IUDs out of vaginas still filled with semen. I don’t collect the restraints in which many of them die as I have no interest in or place for that much chain and rope.

For those who are wondering what the frequency is of women dieing during sex or dieing violently while dressed in fetishwear I’ll have to say that here in Vegas it is fairly common, about once a week from what I’ve been able to determine. Mostly it seems to be women in their late teens and early 20s who were so inexperienced in wearing the equipment in which they died that it was almost as though they committed suicide. You know the sort of things I mean; corsets that were too tight, masks that clogged and couldn’t be unfastened, filters that failed in a hostile environment, gags that were swallowed and so on. Then there are the few who have died from overexertion that triggered a previously unsuspected heart condition or burst an aneurysm and the ones who were strangled or suffocated by intentionally leaving them at the bottom of a pool to run out of air. That seems to be a common way to get rid of a pregnant teen out here. They are more and more frequently found in the swimming pools of houses in foreclosure here and God knows there are enough of them these days. Houses in foreclosure I mean. Occasionally there will be the professional hit on a working girl who wanted to go out on her own or accidentally got preggers and wanted to keep the baby or tried to blackmail a client. In the trade that sort of behavior is really bad for business so it’s quickly and brutally dealt with. The professional girls are usually dressed in their very best rubber or leather and left to die in creative ways in relatively public places as warnings to other women in the trade.

Friends in high places: I have a contact in the Council of Families that control the secondary economy here. There is a schism in the Council; some members think the public hits on working girls are more frequent than is good for business. To help decrease the body count in that category our arrangement is that my contact will let me know where a body is or will be and I get right of first refusal to clean it up. If she is my size and wearing something I want for myself (my contact usually knows how the girl is clothed) then I’ll take the job and harvest the transitionwear I want, and occasionally Taryn will come along to help. It’s tricky doing cleanup for a hit like that because of the locations the bodies are left in. Actually, I’ll almost always do the job if I’m available as it’s not a good idea to refuse a member of the Council too often. Because of my position and wealth I’m protected to some extent, but even with excellent security it is so easy to successfully hit a target, especially a relatively young sexually active female like me. So I’m under no illusion that I’m immortal. What is probably keeping me alive is the information I have on Council members who know if something happens to me everyone on the Council goes down. On the plus side many of the best and most overly ambitious girls in the business are my size rather than the big-breasted showgirl cows that appear in all the Vegas casino and show adverts. So proportionally there are a lot more beautiful and ambitious girls killed wearing unique and unbelievably expensive fetishwear in my size. There is a very, very high failure rate for entrepreneurs in the fetish sex trade here unless you have the proper connections.

Cervical barrier Contraception 101

The human cervix on day 7 of a menstrual cycle

The image above shows the cervix and the opening (the os) in its center that leads to the uterus, on day 7 of a menstrual cycle shortly before the woman becomes fertile. The camera is looking at the cervix as a doctor would while the woman is on an exam table with a speculum inserted to hold her vagina open. The cervix is the conical protrusion from the back end of front wall of the vagina. The back side of the rim of a diaphragm fits into the posterior fornix (the area behind the cervix) which is the dark area under the cervix in this pic. The front rim of the diaphragm tucks into her pubic notch just above her pubic bone. The bladder is above the vagina’s anterior wall (at the top pf the pic) and the colon is behind the vagina’s posterior wall (at the bottom of this pic) In cervical barrier contraception a diaphragm or cervical cap with spermicide in the dome covers the cervix to prevent sperm from passing through the opening in the cervix and reaching the woman’s fallopian tubes where, when she is fertile, it can remain motile and potent for 7+ days waiting for the woman to release an egg.

A selection of contraceptive diaphragms and cervical caps

Cervical barriers: The above image shows a selection of contraceptive cervical barriers used to protect a woman’s cervix during sexual intercourse. The cervix fits under the dome of the barrier which seals against the wall of the vagina or directly against the cervix. The eight barriers shown in the image are, from left to right:

Top row: The Ortho All-Flex, an arching-spring diaphragm and the Cooper/Surgical (Milex) silicone wide seal diaphragm.
Second row: Prentif cavity rim cervical cap and the FemCap
Third row: Lea’s Shield and an Ortho coil spring rim diaphragm
Bottom row: A Semina silicone diaphragm made in Brazil and an Oves cavity rim cervical cap.

Discontinued or otherwise unavailable barriers: The Prentif cap and Lea’s Shield are no longer generally available and Semina and Oves are only available in the U.S. in clinical trials.

A complete FemCap with the removal strap still attached
FemCap: FemCap is the best barrier for protection during dive-sex because it can be used at any depth and is the only barrier that provides meaningful thrust buffering. In the image above the wider brim, shown on the left, is worn against the back wall of the vagina. The removal strap is often trimmed off which gives the wearer and her partner a bit more room when the male is big relative to his partner’s vagina. The outer walls of the brim seal against the walls of the vagina and the dome covers the wearer’s cervix.

An All-Flex diaphragm compressed for insertion

All-Flex diaphragm: All-Flex is the Ortho-McNeil version of the arching spring rim diaphragm and the type most often prescribed by experienced barrier fitters. That’s because it has a stiffer spring that can be worn by women with poor vaginal muscle tone and because since it folds in two planes (see the image above) into a crescent it is easier to get the back rim of a compressed All-Flex behind the wearer’s cervix. The All-Flex reduces the number of times women insert their diaphragms improperly and are therefore unprotected.

Birth control at St Lucy’s: I have started my Contemporary Sexual Health class for students who will be entering the school for the Summer term. CSH is a mandatory course given the temptations available in the surrounding area. Though compulsory almost all the students are very interested in learning how to protect themselves during recreational sex.

St Lucy’s policy on the use of contraceptives is where possible to minimize the use of hormonal contraception. For some few women hormones are necessary to regularize their cycles or control heavy bleeding, but St Lucy’s believes in teaching discipline and learning to use a cervical barrier correctly does teach discipline. Used correctly a properly fitted diaphragm or cap is (at St Lucy’s) actually better than the pill for teens because a large percentage of teens don’t take their pills correctly. The student’s barriers come with RFID chips so we can track who is wearing their protection and who isn’t and the ones who aren’t get penalty points which bring them in line quickly. And, of course a diaphragm can be used to minimize the mess during menstrual sex. Both diaphragms and caps can be used to protect against over-pressure events during dive-sex but a diaphragm is effective only to a depth of 10m when the rim starts to distort due to the pressure.. A strapless FemCap is better than a diaphragm for dive protection because there is no limit to the depth at which it can be used and it also provides thrust buffering if the woman’s pelvic anatomy is small in relation to her partner.
