Old, fat, white, misogynist Republican leaderRush Limbaugh: Rush, a man, who has considerable influence on conservative Republicans - which speaks volumes about the Republican Party -, enjoys attacking ordinary people who have different views that he does and who for all practical purposes can’t fight back. He tried it again last week when he savaged Sandra Fluke, a Georgetown University law student, with misogynistic and vitriolic comments and misrepresented the position of Ms. Fluke in her testimony before congress. The blowback has been severe, (So far he has lost 7 sponsors for his radio show.) though probably not sufficient to cripple his style for long. He is a terrible spokesperson for Republican causes and I hope he continues his garbage-mouth tactics at least through the national elections.

“AS a woman who has been viciously slashed by Rush Limbaugh, I can tell you, it’s no fun.
At first you think, if he objects to the substance of what you’re saying, why can’t he just object to the substance of what you’re saying? Why go after you in the most personal and humiliating way?
Then, once you accept the fact that he has become the puppet master of the Republican Party by stirring bloodlust (earning enough to bribe Elton John to play at his fourth wedding), you still cringe at the thought that your mom might hear the ugly things he said.
Now he’s brutalizing a poised, wholesome-looking 30-year-old Georgetown law student as a “slut,” “a prostitute” and “round-heeled” simply for testifying to lawmakers about wanting the school to amend its health insurance to cover contraception.”

I know the man has rights under the First Amendment, but Rush is vile and repugnant! I hope the rest of his sponsors pull out (pun not intended... well, maybe a little) and his show finally goes off the air!
ReplyDeleteI think you people are very narrow minded. I do not know why Rush even apologized! He was pointing to the absurdity of the notion that cost of contraception must be borne by insurance companies as mandated by the government. That is analogous to insurance companies (or tax payers due to government mandate) being forced to pay for a person having sex, by being forced to pay for the cost of contraception - Is that not akin to prostitution? That is the point that Rush was making. I do not see any flaw in that logic and if you all opened your mind would see the reasonableness of the argument.
ReplyDeleteAnon, the problem with RL’s remarks was that he purposely vilified a defenseless college student for stating her beliefs in public, showing – yet again – the misogynistic bully he really is. As the Pied Piper of the Republican Party he is their opposition’s dream!

Update: Here is the Premiere response to this story - "This memo was sent to traffic managers of news/talk affiliates as part of Premiere’s overall strategy to update our processes and services to better meet our clients’ needs." Rush himself was away from his show, with fill-in Mark Steyn joking that Rush had given himself a suspension for the day and was playing golf.
In the note to traffic managers, Premiere Networks says the unusual two-week suspension "does not apply to in-program commercials provided by Premiere within any of its live news/talk programming." But the suspension of the usual requirement related to the barter spots is effective immediately for news/talk stations, for the weeks of March 12 and March 19. Affiliates normally run those spots in return for the programming. Premiere does not offer a reason, and does not mention a possible connection to Rush Limbaugh. Some radio advertisers have pulled out of the Premiere-syndicated Limbaugh show itself, and others want to avoid all controversial programming. Radio-Info.com has a copy of today's memo:
"Attention Traffic Managers of Premiere News/Talk Affiliates:
"We are suspending the requirement to run barter spots for two weeks, March 12th and March 19th, for our News/Talk affiliates only.
"Please replace/re-traffic any Premiere barter spots immediately. Contractual requirements to run barter spots are being suspended for these two weeks only. Replace them with Lifelock and Lear Financial or a local spot of your choice.
"This suspension does not apply to in-program commercial provided by Premiere within any of its live news/talk programming.""
As you said earlier, they need to throw out the extreme righties, and come to gether and get things fixed, or were never gonna get anywhere. Jill do you have a email, id like to ask you a few questions that you seem to have a firm grasp of.
