“There are a bunch of Connecticut college students who are likely getting a little jittery right now, and it’s not from taking too many drugs. Their problem is a shortage of one of their favorite “neuroenhancers,” commonly known as Adderall.

Adderall is a drug made up of “mixed amphetamine salts” that’s commonly prescribed for people suffering from attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD, also known as attention-deficit disorder or ADD) to help them concentrate better.

The months-long shortage of the drug is obviously a pain in the ass for lots of people, adults as well as children, who need Adderall to deal with their medical condition.

But Adderall has become an illegal FAVORITE OF college students looking for more effective ways to pull off all-nighter marathon study and writing sessions or to be able to both party and make classes the next day. The fact it’s a federally controlled drug hasn’t reduced its underground popularity one bit. By some estimates, Adderall use on college campuses is at the 20 percent level or higher.

Reports of Adderall supply problems have been making headlines across the nation for some time now and Connecticut hasn’t been immune.

“It’s probably been going on for a couple of months,” says Rick Carbray, a licensed pharmacist with the Apex Pharmacy in Hamden. He says the shortages in Connecticut at the moment involve “instant relief” Adderall tablets in various dosage categories.

“There’s no problem with Adderall extended relief,” he adds, but that’s no comfort for patients looking for the instant relief tablets.

Marghie Giuliano, executive vice president of the Connecticut Pharmacists Association, says reports from the group’s members across the state indicate that “supply has been sporadic.”

The Federal Drug Administration website lists a number of different reasons for the Adderall difficulties, depending on which manufacturer is involved.

The listed causes include chemical “supply issues,” “inadequate finished product supply to support current demand,” “increase in demand,” and “manufacturing delays.”

The FDA normally limits the amount of ingredients available to companies producing amphetamine-based drugs, but federal officials say those companies can apply to have those limits raised.

There were reports earlier this year of shortages of the extended-relief form of Adderall made by Shire, and that the company boosted prices for that drug by 20 percent or more. A spokesman for Shire says there’s no current shortage of Adderall Extended Relief.

Carbray says the problems at the moment seem to involve shortages of 5 milligram and 20 milligram tablets of the instant-relief variety. The result is that pharmacists are having to mix and match different dosage combinations to get patients the right amounts for their prescriptions, according to Carbray.

He says it stands to reason that, if legitimate users are having trouble getting Adderall, illegal users like college students will be having even more difficulty. That’s because virtually all illegal Adderall usage involves someone getting the drug from a person who has a prescription.

One California study found that full-time college students in the 18-22 age group were twice as likely to have used Adderall as non-students. A recent report in a University of Virginia newspaper quoted one illegal Adderall dealer as saying sales of the drug spike just before mid-terms and finals.

While students who use Adderall as a “neuroenhancer” claim it helps them stay awake and focused for long periods of time, use of the drug comes with some ugly risks. Side effects from overdoses can include confusion, uncontrollable shaking, depression, irregular heartbeats, hallucinations, upset stomach and loss of appetite, even vomiting and diarrhea.”

Discipline facility maintenance: Taryn wanted to dive Trimix while she is home and the only place deep enough to do that is Adolph’s 216 foot deep by 36 foot diameter well at his discipline training facility. Adolph lets us dive it when the facility isn’t in use, mainly for training young European Rubber-Girl Submissives. Adolph has one of the few very deep all-year training facilities so Doms are willing to pay transportation, room and board to get newbies to the fetish taught the basics of being sexually dominated underwater while incased in rubber. The water in the well is heated to 85° F and circulated so the pool is a uniform temperature throughout it’s entire depth so wearing thongs on the bottom was comfy, but then dive-sex is strenuous so we were working with heavy respiration quite a bit of the time.

We used Ocean Technologies Guardian FFMs equipped for Trimix and a Trimix blend of 19/30 in Worthington HP steel X8-130 twin sets with tanks of 100% oxygen pre-positioned at our 40 ft. deco stop. The importance of a using an FFM for deep dives and dive-sex can’t be overemphasized. For dive-sex if it gets rough and having her cervix rammed causes the woman to expel her reg at best it interrupts the moment and at worst she ingests enough water that she needs to terminate the dive. The other reason a FFM is so important is in case of decompression sickness (DCS) where the diver might pass out or have a seizure and expel his or her regulator and it may be impossible for the dive buddy to get the reg back in her mouth. That is a very common cause of dive fatalities especially where the ascent will take too long for there to be a reasonable chance of survival w/o being able to breathe.

The men took care of our needs, twice for each of us, and then we let them go while we cleaned up the bottom. We could have used their help, but I didn’t want them to pay attention to what was on the bottom and start asking questions and getting ideas. What we found was chilling. I’ve mentioned before seeing training pools where women’s birth control and cervical protection devices littered the bottom and that was the case on the bottom of the well. What I found exceptionally scary was that there were three GyneFix IUDs (the gold standard for non-hormonal contraception) on the bottom. In the case of two the implanted knot had come out of the fundus and the entire device had been expelled. On the third the cord holding the copper sleeves had broken and only two of the six sleeves were still on the cord. From the Number and type contraceptive products we found it seems clear that: Women being sent for training at a facility deeper than 30 feet were not being told that if a diaphragm was to be used for training only a Reflexions flat spring latex diaphragm would provide under-thrust and distortion free protection down to at least 200 feet. All the women sent are beautiful and slim. It seems likely that the 65 mm silicone All-Flex devices were too small (under-sizing is a common mistake made by inexperienced fitters) making them easier to dislodge and expel. The number of full lube and spermicide applicators on the bottom suggests that the women were nervous about being in training and not confident about the use of vaginal applicators. And, additionally, a lot of their diaphragms or caps were being either expelled or intentionally being pulled out by their partner/instructors. That being the case one hopes they are being removed after providing protection as gas-guards during dive-sex. Contraception is a different matter entirely and can be taken care of easily with emergency contraception especially since Ella is now available in the U.S. And pregnancy at least through the 8th week with Mifeprex so while it might put the woman in a moral quandary she has options readily available. That isn’t the case if she gets an embolism because her gas guard was pulled out during dive-sex before she was penetrated.

It was a fun morning and Taryn and I enjoyed ourselves immensely! She was fertile and let Otto watch as she tried to insert her FemCap over her ripe (soft, high and open) cervix, but she was nervous and had so much trouble getting it in that he finally had to help her position it correctly and push it on to her cervix for her. Thrust buffering Vs. Semina: Terri said she knew it was a gamble that the thick silicone dome of her FC would be enough to save her, but she hoped the stiffer dome would provide more thrust buffering than the super thin transparent silicone membrane of the Semina coil spring diaphragm that she and the other TGs typically wear for submerged encounters. Adolph insists that all the Towel Girls wear Seminas as gas guards because the girls, and more importantly their clients, think the pink transparent silicone device is both sexy and beautiful and the clients can feel the girl’s cervix through the transparent rubber membrane. Semina is only effective as a gas guard down to 30 feet, but that is all a TG needs working in 20 ft deep encounter pools and it can be worn regardless of where the TG is in her cycle, unlike FemCap that can’t be worn safely while menstrual.

Once Terri’s FC was in place she inserted a 10 ml applicator of Semécide, the intimate lube/spermicide combination made with dive-gel and 4% Octoxynol-9 and spread a finger full of it over her labia to help with underwater insertion. Then she put on a Splash signature swimsuit, a white Gottex string thong bikini that tied at the hips and between her breasts so it could be easily removed while she was in full dive gear. Finding it satisfactory she opened ambient breathing valve (ABV) again and entered the water. While she waited for Otto she inflated and vented her BCD to make certain she could control her buoyancy while she watched Otto put on his SCUBA gear and enter the water. They had discussed what Otto wanted and all he asked for was ‘ordinary vanilla sex while taking her from the rear’. Only then did his pelvis slam into hers. She said later that she couldn’t breathe for what seemed like ages. We rushed down to the encounter pool and helped Otto get her out of her equipment and pull her out of the water. By then the EMTs (two experienced women) were there and they managed to clear her airway and get her breathing again while in the background I could hear Otto complaining to Adolph that he only got off once and wanted another Towel Girl.

Ballet Cosplay & Horizontal Academics

Old Freed Classics used for Cosplay

Ballet training for UNLV Cosplay women: There is a cosplay (costume play) club associated with a popular sorority at UNLV that is using a set of period (1950s) story lines that involve ballet for role playing. The idea is that the costumes and equipment for and the interpretation of the individual roles have to be as nearly as perfectly period as possible and errors in costuming or performance are brutally criticized and the girl making the errors is humiliated in front of other club members as a form of sorority hazing.

A friend of Taryn’s, who graduated from St Lucy’s at the same time as Taryn, is now an Advanced Placement second year student at UNLV asked for my help in getting herself and two of her sorority sisters up to speed in pointe work and contraception (which are the two aspects where they feel their experiences and training are the weakest) to avoid being humiliated by the stream of invectives directed at new club members who make costume and performance errors.

For pointe shoes we are using old Freed Classics which use traditional materials and manufacturing techniques and are the closest to the pointes used in the fifties. We get them from the discarded shoes from several of my company dancers and pad-up so the shoes don’t hurt that much. When the girls get good at it I will reduce their padding and refit them with shoes that are a better fit. And we replaced some of the ribbons that had elastic in them to lessen the chances of tendonitis because elastic wasn’t used in the ribbons in the fifties.

One of the girls balked at the time I insisted they take for training, but after one of her friends was so humiliated during a critique of her Cosplay performance she resigned from the sorority she changed her mind and is now 100% committed to learning as much from me as she can. It would have been a hopeless task to train them except for the fact that all three had taken pointe several years ago and so they were rusty, but with proper training and dedication were back up to passable amateur speed in a few weeks.

The contraception problem limits the girls to condoms and diaphragms since the ballet roles are set in the 1950s and the women are not supposed to use hormonal contraceptives or IUDs which weren’t invented or in use in the U.S then and that freaked them out. As far as cervical barriers are concerned the FemCap wasn’t available then nor was Oves or the Prentif cervical cap so the only method of contraception that the woman herself could use was the diaphragm which became available in the 1930s. The girls were very concerned about using only diaphragms for protection, but I assured them that a properly fitted and correctly used diaphragm is 96% effective and that when used simultaneously with a male condom the combined effeteness is above 99%, just as effective as the pill or an IUD. I would like to have fit the three of them with All-Flex silicone diaphragms since it is rugged and the easiest style to insert correctly. However, they needed latex because diaphragms were made of latex in the 1950s. So I fit them with Reflexions flat spring diaphragms the only latex devices still made by a major manufacturer. A flat spring diaphragm is a bit harder to insert correctly. Fortunately their fingers are long enough that they can feel their cervixes, so I taught them how to check with their fingers that the stretchy rubber dome is covering the cervix. And a gas Guard inserted protects a girl from her partner blowing air up her vagina while giving her oral, something fifties women using diaphragms were automatically protected against.

Dive-sex wasn’t a part of normal sexual activity in the fifties so with wanting to be as true to the period as possible during a cosplay sexual encounter they shouldn’t be having dive-sex. However, a benefit of a flat spring diaphragm is that it can be use at any depth for dive-sex so if somehow they find themselves in that situation they are still safe. Of course there is nothing to prevent the girls using their flat spring diaphragms for dive-sex with a favorite partner outside the Cosplay setting. Diving deeper than 30 feet seems very unlikely since the only dive facilities deeper than 30 feet in the area are my pit and Adolph’s well and neither of us is allowing UNLV students in our training facilities.

The girls use our in-house experimental silicone base intimate lube and spermicide Semécide from Labia Labs professional line of contraceptive products. The spermicide made with dive-gel and Octoxynol-9 (O9) and is far less irritating and just as effective as spermicides using Nonoxynol 9 (N9) and can be used with both silicone and latex barriers.

They have been able to avoid any of the ballet scenarios during Cosplay so far, but their training has reached the point that they don’t wobble en pointe and their poses, développés, bourrées and jumps are quite good for amateurs so I think they should be ready to compete in that category in the next few days.

Horizontal Academics: Karen Owens PowerPoint presentation during her senior year at Duke University is old news by now. However, the same thing is going on at UNLV with, hopefully, a bit more discretion. With today’s sexually liberated women keeping a tally and rating a girl’s sexual conquests is common, especially among sorority sisters who share the information while mentoring younger women. Horizontal Academics is not a for-credit course, but it certainly is a valuable part of a young woman’s education. I’m working with Student Health to provide dive-sex training for the few sorority women who want to score in non traditional public locations and counseling them about being careful what information they post about themselves and others on social networking sites.

Avoid Lea’s Shield for dive-sex

Lea’s shield: Lea’s shield was supposed to be a one-size fits-all cervical barrier with a one-way valve that would allow vaginal discharge to flow out while preventing semen from entering the bowl to reach the wearer’s cervix. I haven’t written about it because while the idea was marvelous the design was flawed so it was taken off the market several years ago and very few women I know and no entertainers use an LS. However, because it was made of surgical grade silicone women and their partners who had the anatomy to use it as intended (for traditional sexual intercourse at one atmosphere of pressure) and liked it still use the Shield so there are still a few in use and it can still be purchased on-line.

Problems with the Shield: One of the problems with Lea’s Shield is that there is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all cervical barrier. At best Lea’s shield is a one-size fits-most device so women with small anatomies found because of the Shields large volume it was difficult or impossible to insert. Or, for those who could insert it and wear it comfortably the valve often hurt a well endowed partner. I take an 80 mm diaphragm so I’m on the upper end of a ‘normal’ size unaroused vagina, but I tent far more than the average woman because when fully aroused and penetrated from the rear I can take an 11 inch man with almost no discomfort. However, with the Shield inserted I can only take 8 inches and the valve, even though it’s very soft, hurt my well endowed partners. So, my Lea’s Shield in its lovely teal bag has ended up as a paperweight and conversation piece on my desk at work.

The Shield and dive-sex: Why I’m writing about Lea’s Shield now is because a 26 y/o woman was brought into the ER side of the clinic just as I was leaving after my usual CD1 menstrual extraction yesterday morning. She had gone into the 20 foot deep pool of a pool bungalow wearing a Lea’s shield as a gas guard. She is a friend of the guest who had reserved the bungalow for a week and she had always before used an arcing spring diaphragm as a gas guard but had forgotten it so wore her normal surface sex protection, the Lea’s Shield into the pool. She had used Semécide, the Dive-Gel with an N9 spermicide, in the bowl of her Shield and wore a bikini and her own single hose reg and a buoyancy vest with integrated weight pockets. The security cams show that after checking her equipment on the surface she released air from her vest and began a rapid descent and at about 5 feet she started to squirm and apparently panicked. She tried to inflate her vest and drop her weights but managed to do neither and she continued to sink to the bottom doubled over and writhing in pain with her fingers inserted in her vagina. The guest, her boyfriend, was ready to start his descent and emptied his BCD and sank to her side in less than a minute then hit the fill valves on both their buoyancy compensators and made an a emergency ascent and pulled her to the shallow end and out of the pool.

Fortunately she was using her own dive gear so the casino isn’t liable for damages and having pool access she had signed a waver one section of which spelled out the gas guards a woman should use (which does not include Lea’s Shield) if she intended to have pool-sex. So I think we are in the clear as far as legalities go. With other style cervical caps; FemCap, Prentif or Oves the silicone or latex of the dome is so soft and small that the dome can collapse around or on to the cervix and there will be no (in the case of Oves) or very little squeeze in the case of Prentif or FemCap. That is often not the case with a Lea’s Shield.

The bowl void: The problem is that the dome, which the manufacturer calls the bowl, is large, 30 mm wide, to accommodate women who have given birth. That means it is too large for most women who have never been pregnant so there is a large surface pressure void in the bowl. And the bowl is very stiff which means that if the wearer descends to much depth at all and she has a large void in the bowl the surrounding water pressure will squeeze her cervix and the neck of her uterus into the bowl to fill the void and then squeeze her cervix out through the 10 mm opening between the bowl and the one-way valve that is kept shut by being compressed between the rear vaginal wall and the outer surface of the bowl. We are talking about the diameter of a small cervix being 20 to 22 mm so having that squeezed through a 10 mm hole gives you some idea that the process is unbelievably painful even though the cervix itself has few nerves in it. Having ones cervix crushed by pressure squeeze while diving the first indication is severe cramps and then a sickening searing pain. The interior of the cervix is full of blood vessels and once they are ruptured the woman bleeds freely and the hemorrhaging is difficult to stop.

The ER Gyn sedated her gave her a unit of blood and opened her vagina with a speculum, then had to cut through the thick silicone dome of the bowl with a laser knife to break the vacuum so the shield could be removed. Then a tube was inserted through her cervix to allow drainage and the cervix was injected with a med to cause the wounds to clot and her vagina was packed with gauze and she was sent to the private hospital the casino uses which specializes in reproductive tract trauma. Rebuilding a cervix is tricky and I’m guessing if she is able to carry a pregnancy to term she will never be able to give birth vaginally or she will almost certainly tear.

Parent’s week and practice dildos: This week was Parents Week at St Lucy’s. She is on an antibiotic for ten days and Chuck, the Gyn who did her ME, said she could have sex as soon as she felt like it. She worked as a surface assistant (gofer) that afternoon. I’m just glad that if it had to happen it happened three days after she arrived so there is no doubt that she conceived before she arrived and none of my guys was responsible. The paperwork for an unintended pregnancy caused by a Pool Stallion, regardless of the releases previously signed, is a real headache! She said she thinks her pills failed because she was on antibiotics for a few days 7 weeks or so ago. An antibiotic decreasing the effectiveness of BCPs is such a common problem, especially when the woman is taking a very low dose (20mcg of estrogen) pill as Katrina is. I’m really surprised why there aren’t more prominent warnings.

Even for Vegas it’s unusual to see four couples encased in Polymorphe latex in a mainstream restaurant-club aside from the fact that we looked like we knew what we were doing and were enjoying ourselves.

Pool stallions: A specialist sub group of escorts, which became known as Pool Stallions, was started in February of this year to care for the demand of female executives for strong male partners for dive-sex during recreational retreats from their business and family responsibilities. The pool stallions that Pirate lent us are marine biology graduate students spending the summer in Vegas doing research on the human female and her relationship with water - swimming pools – here and so will be gathering research data on the women they have been assigned to while on loan for the rest of the shoot. The end date for the shoot now seems in flux as they have asked for it to be extended twice as the writer-producer team thinks of more scenarios to video in the pit. Pirate thinks it’s worth the cost because of the good will it will bring his company and the possibility of paying contracts when Graphic Media needs more talent.
